Internship Opportunities Summer 2011
As advocates for cultural heritage preservation, study, interpretation and education, Brockington and Associates is pleased to offer an internship program for masters-level graduate students in archaeology, historic preservation, and allied fields. We offer formalized training to future professionals who plan to pursue a career in cultural resources management. In partnership with local and regional colleges and universities, we are cultivating future archaeological, historic preservation, and cultural resources consulting professionals with the highest standards in service, research, and professional integrity.
Applied Archaeology Internship
Location: Atlanta, Ga. and Charleston, S.C.
Dates: Mid-May to late July
Requirements: Graduate students pursuing an MA or MS who have completed at least one full year of graduate level coursework or recent graduates of an MA or MS program are eligible for this internship. Applicants must have a broad background in anthropology, archaeology, or an allied field.
Details: Full-time, part-time, paid and unpaid internships are available. Interns work on Brockington cultural resources consulting projects, including:
- Business development and marketing
- Archival and historical research
- Archaeological field investigations (may require some travel)
- Architectural evaluations and documentation
- Site evaluations and documentation
- Laboratory methods and analysis
- GIS applications
- Interpretation
- Exhibit and design development
Applied Historic Preservation Internship
Location: Atlanta, Ga.
Dates: Mid-May to late July
Requirements: Graduate students pursuing an MA or MHP who have completed at least one full year of graduate level coursework or recent graduates of an MA or MHP program are eligible for this internship. Applicants must have a broad background in history, historic preservation or an allied field.
Details: Full-time, part-time, paid and unpaid internships are available. Interns work on Brockington cultural resources consulting projects, including:
- Business development and marketing
- Archival and historical research
- Deeds research
- Architectural survey (may require some travel)
- Architectural evaluations and recording methods
- Building inspection and documentation
- HABS/HAER photography and documentation
- Technical reporting
- GIS applications

- Official college or university transcripts
- An essay (maximum 500 words) describing your career goals, interest in archaeology, history, historic preservation or cultural resources management and reasons for applying.
