Mr. Edward Salo (M.A., Middle Tennessee State University; Doctor of Philosophy in Public History candidate, Middle Tennessee State University - pending) is a senior architectural historian with seven years of experience in architectural survey and assessment, as well as preparation of historic contexts. He has served as a historian for both public and private clients in Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Florida, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, North Carolina, New Mexico, New York, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, and Utah. Because of his work with military and other federal clients, Mr. Salo has extensive experience with the Section 106 process. Mr. Salo has authored numerous research papers, cultural resource management and conservation plans, professional presentations, and articles. In addition, he has completed National Register of Historic Places nominations, National Historic Landmark Nomination forms, and HABS/HAER documentation of several resources.
Before joining our firm, Mr. Salo completed projects for the Texas Department of Transportation, the General Services Administration, the Air Force Center for Environmental Excellence, the Fort Worth and Vicksburg Districts of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, various Main Street organizations in Tennessee, and several private engineering firms. Mr. Salo serves as project manager for architectural history projects at our South Carolina office. He is currently managing the architectural surveys of the proposed I-73 corridor, and county-wide surveys of Dillon and Marion counties in South Carolina. All three of these projects are large-scale surveys (500-plus buildings).
