Mr. Jeff Sherard (B.A., University of Alabama) is an analytic specialist in our Atlanta office. He has conducted fieldwork in Alabama, Georgia, Florida, Illinois, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Kentucky, and Tennessee, and has over 15 years of archaeological field and laboratory experience, including nine in cultural resources management. Mr. Sherard has directed numerous archaeological survey and testing projects and has authored or co-authored over 150 cultural resources assessment reports, including several mitigation reports. His areas of specialty include the analysis of flaked-stone debitage and tools, ground stone, daub, and lithic use-wear. In one research project, Jeff used mass spectrometry on silica froth material to identify episodes of intense burning at the Moundville site. More recently, he completed a morphological study of daub from a Moundville earthlodge to identify unique and varying construction methods.
