Brockington Personnel Attend Advanced Section 106 Seminar

Sep 28, 2012

Phyllis Rigney, Cameron Sexton, and Jana Futch attended the Advanced Section 106 Seminar held on September 27th, 2012, in Atlanta, GA.  Provided by the Advisory Council on Historic Preservation, the Seminar is designed for environmental and cultural resource managers who have experience with the National Historic Preservation Act and are familiar with the Section 106 process.

The focus of the Advanced Section 106 Seminar is to address the challenges of reaching consensus in Section 106 consultations, learn to identify and resolve problems that arise during the Section 106 process, and discuss how to effectively structure Section 106 agreement documents. In addition to the regular course curriculum, the instructor for this Seminar, Katherine Kerr, created a lively and discussion-oriented atmosphere, which allowed for the in-depth examination of a multitude of Section 106 issues that the participants had encountered, as well as how to trouble-shoot and resolve those issues.  Upon completion, the attendees received a certificate and materials that will assist them in future Section 106 implementation and consultation.
