National Cemeteries NRHP Nominations

The Brockington team has built a reputation for rapid response time, with quick and accurate turnaround for all of our clients no matter where in the world our work may take us. It shows our clients that we care. We are committed to responsiveness.

Brockington was recently contracted by the National Cemetery Administration to complete National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) nominations for the five subject national cemeteries established between 1873 and 1942. This work included historical research at local and Washington, DC area repositories such as the Library of Congress and the National Archives; analyzing historic records; verifying existing data or conducting inventories of historic resources; assuring the accuracy and completeness of all inventory and research data; and organizing support material such as digital photographs and maps for submission to the National Park Service. In addition to the NRHP nominations, two Alaska national cemeteries included historic resource inventories in advance of preparing the NRHP nominations and making large-format photographs that meet Historic American Landscape Survey standards. Research themes included the Civil War, World War II, U.S. Army and Veterans Administration policy, and veteran demographics and benefits.

Cemeteries included in this investigation:

  • Alton National Cemetery, Illinois
  • Quincy National Cemetery, Illinois
  • Fort McPherson National Cemetery, Nebraska
  • Fort Richardson National Cemetery, Alaska
  • Sitka National Cemetery, Alaska
